The Divorce Act ISO process only deals with support issues – child support and spousal support. It does not address parenting issues like decision-making responsibility or parenting time - or property division issues.
-
Child support: money paid by one parent to another to contribute to the children’s living expenses. For more information about child support, click here.
-
Spousal support: money paid by one spouse to another to contribute to the others’ living expenses. For more information about spousal support, click here.
If you have additional issues to address other than support, there may be other options and/or you may need to start an additional process. Where and how you address these issues may depend on several factors, including where the children live. If you are addressing parenting arrangements, you likely need to address that issue in the court nearest to where the children are living. These matters are complicated. If this is your situation, you should speak with a lawyer.
